Leopoldo Aguilera-Aguirre is the Principal Research Scientist at Yuva Biosciences. His research interests include the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in biological processes such as senescence and the decline of normal physiological functions in the organisms leading to age-related manifestations and degenerative diseases in various organs. Oxidative stress plays a critical role in the development of these age-related manifestations. During his doctoral and postdoctoral training, he developed diverse molecular biology skills in cell and animal models applicable to various biological processes including bioenergetics, inflammation, senescence, DNA damage and innate immune responses.
Dr. Aguilera-Aguirre has published scientific articles in multiple recognized international peer-reviewed journals including Nature. He also has served as a reviewer for different scientific journals including Free Radical Biology & Medicine (Elsevier) and PLOS ONE.
Dr. Aguilera-Aguirre joined Yuva Biosciences because he is an enthusiastic scientist devoted to discovering and optimizing the use of natural products to improve the quality of life for persons suffering from age-related disease conditions.
